FAQ
I'm new to retinol. How should I start?
Start with a pea-sized amount every second or third night. If your skin feels fine after two weeks, use it more often. Mixing it with moisturizer can help at first.
Is some dryness or peeling normal?
Yes, a little dryness, redness, or flaking is common in the first few weeks as skin adjusts. If it bothers you, take a few nights off, then restart by mixing equal parts with a moisturizer like the Multivitamin Brightening Moisturizer.
Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Avoid retinol while pregnant or breastfeeding. HA + Prebiotics Serum is a gentle option in the meantime.
Can I use it around my eyes?
No. Keep it away from the eye area. For eyes, use the gentler EyeLyte Retinol Eye Cream.
Do I really need sunscreen?
Yes. Retinol makes skin more sensitive to the sun. Wear sunscreen every morning, like our Matte Mineral Sunscreen. Questions? Email info@derm.ca.
